Still Waters - June 2024

June was such a beautiful month, filled with new beginnings, meaningful connections, and inspiring creativity. I'm thrilled to share some of the highlights and milestones from this month.

One of the most exciting developments was the launch of two public events, which will now become a monthly tradition. We had one event on Friday and another on Saturday, and the response was incredibly heartwarming. These gatherings have become a special way to bring together enthusiasts and learners in a fun, engaging environment.

Additionally, I had the privilege of hosting my workshops at several retirement villages in Moreton Bay. These sessions hold a special place in my heart, as they provide an opportunity to connect with wonderful individuals and bring a bit of joy and creativity into their lives.

In June, I introduced the Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolour sets to my workshops. These sets have been a fantastic addition, offering vibrant colours and giving my students the freedom to explore their creativity. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and I love seeing the beautiful artworks my students create.

The theme this month was our painting titled "Still Waters." This piece depicted a serene beach scene, complete with umbrellas and chairs, transporting us to a warmer, more tranquil place. It was a joy to see how each participant added their unique touch to this calming scene, and the finished pieces were truly stunning.

On the digital front, I created four new tutorials on YouTube, expanding our library of resources for everyone to enjoy. I also started drawing sketches that are now available for free download on my website. These resources are designed to inspire and assist in your creative journey.

Another exciting milestone was becoming an Amazon Affiliate. This partnership allows me to recommend products I genuinely love and use, making it easier for you to find the right tools for your projects. Additionally, I wrote and published a modern lettering book (called Mindful Scripts, available as a digital download on Etsy or a paperback on Amazon), which has been a dream come true. To top it off, I had some advertisements aired on SALT RADIO, reaching a broader audience and sharing the joy of creativity.

While there are many things on my to-do list, my primary focus remains on the retirement villages. These workshops are incredibly fulfilling, and I am committed to bringing joy and creativity to these wonderful communities.

I am deeply grateful for all the love, support, and wonderful reviews for my workshops. It's because of my friends and family, who share, comment, and support me, that I can continue doing what I love. A touching moment from one of my classes was when a student shared that they had been struggling with depression and decided to join the class after seeing a poster. I admire the courage it took to get out of bed and come to the class that day. This is why I do what I do – to bring joy, be a friend, and teach a skill that can help process life's challenges.

Thank you to everyone who has attended my workshops, shared my work, and supported me in this journey. Your bravery, kindness, and enthusiasm mean the world to me. I am honoured to host these workshops and meet such amazing people.
